Graduating Detdet Pepito and Jonna Perdido will return to action for the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses for UAAP Season 88.

Fr. Rodel Cansancio, O.P., UST Institute of Physical Education and Athletics director, confirmed their decision on a social media post with a caption: “1 More Year.”

Both the graduating captain and the recovering winger will be maximizing their five-year playing eligibility.

Pepito anchored UST to a Final Four finish in Season 87, where they fell short against twice-to-beat De La Salle University.

The 22-year-old ranked second in digs with 4.25 per set and fourth in receiving with a 42.74% efficiency.

Pepito is set to chase her first UAAP championship in her tenth year with UST and will forgo the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft set for June as a result.

Perdido continues to recover from a torn ACL tear she suffered during the Shakey’s Super League Pre-Season Championship.

The UST outside hitter is set to bring much-needed firepower on her return alongside main gunners Angge Poyos and Reg Jurado.

His love for the game started when he was seven, watching basketball, UAAP (already supporting UST), and Formula 1. In the pandemic, he also gained more interest in other sports particularly volleyball, baseball, and football. Besides writing, he works in the mornings, and attends classes in BGPOP until almost midnight. After all that, all he can say is: "Anything's possible," by Kevin Garnett. His ultimate goal is to be part of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, but as a sports writer.
