Hazel Lustan, a product of the University of Santo Tomas Lady Booters, will suit up for the Philippines in the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup Finals 2025, scheduled from May 6 to 18, at the Hohhot Sports Centre in Hohhot, China.

27-year-old Lustan was included in the 14-woman roster of the Philippine Women’s National Futsal Team that was revealed on Tuesday, April 29.

Regardless of the tournament’s results, the “Filipina5” have already booked their place in the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup, set for November 21 to December 7, as hosts.

“There is a great pressure. There is so much work that the Philippine Football Federation is doing on the side of organizing. As for me, being part of the National Team Pool, we are focusing to get better as we keep moving forward to the road towards the World Cup,” Lustan told TomasinoWeb.

Lustan credited her development to the support of her family, friends, and longtime UST football coach, Marjo Allado, who has helped nurture Thomasian footballers throughout the years.

“UST molded my being as a player, and now that I am playing for our country, it makes it more meaningful. I hope maging inspirasyon ito for any woman who dreams to achieve their goals in life lalong-lalo na para sa mga Pilipinang Futsalera at Futbolera natin,” she said.

Lustan played for the UST Lady Booters from UAAP Season 77 to 81. She is now the captain of the Capital1 Solar Strikers in the Philippine Women’s Football League.

The 55th ranked Philippines will take on futsal powerhouses in the group stage such as the world no. 9 Iran on May 7, 11th-ranked Vietnam on May 9, and 29th-ranked Hong Kong on May 11.
