The University of Tomas Growling Tigresses narrowly escaped the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 15-14, to snag a bronze medal in the UAAP Season 87 women’s 3×3 basketball tournament on Sunday, May 4, at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

The 7-0 Tigresses fell short of defending their crown against national standout Kacey Dela Rosa and the Ateneo De Manila University in the semis, 10-14.

CJ Maglupay led the scorers with seven points and eight rebounds, while Kent Pastrana tallied five markers and three boards.

UST found themselves trailing at the halfway point of the match, 8-10.

Maglupay led the 4-0 blitz to put them ahead with three minutes remaining, 12-10

Louna Ozar responded with a two-pointer to level with two minutes remaining, 13-13.

Pastrana played a pivotal role in the end game with two crucial points and a block in the final possession to ice the game, 15-14.

Ozar led the scorers for UP with five points and three assists.

Karylle Sierba nabbed the Rookie of the Year award.
