The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers came up short against the defending champions De La Salle University Green Archers, 12-15, in the UAAP Season 87 men’s 3×3 basketball tournament finals on Sunday, May 4, at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

Amiel Acido anchored the España-based squad with eight points and eight rebounds.

UST went scoreless for the first two minutes and 30 seconds before Acido converted an and-1 play to stop the bleeding, 2-5.

DLSU's long-distance shooting extended their lead even further, 2-9.

Acido and Ice Danting clawed back in offense and drained two long bombs to cut the seven-point deficit by two with a minute remaining, 12-14

The Growling Tigers failed to muster up a bucket in the final seconds of the game that ultimately sealed the third straight championship of DLSU, 12-15.

Andrei Dungo logged a team-high seven points and two blocks, while Abadam connected with four points and five boards.

The Growling Tigers pulled off a gritty overtime against Adamson University to book their spot in the Finals, 16-14.

UST’s last golden finish was in Season 84, led by captain Nic Cabañero.
