Four-time UAAP beach volleyball MVP Sisi Rondina, along with Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws legend, Bernadeth Pons, is officially back on the sand to represent the Philippines in the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures Nuvali from May 1 to 4, at the Nuvali Sands Courts in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

The pair, known as “SiPons,” is returning to the national beach volleyball team after focusing on indoor volleyball in recent years.

The indoor rivals previously won the 2022 BPT Futures Subic Bay and are now aiming to repeat that success on home soil.

Their participation marks a key step in sharpening their chemistry for the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand this December.

Rondina and Pons last snagged a bronze medal at the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam.

That podium finish, though commendable, left the Alas mainstay hungry for more.

The pair first tested their mettle against Tiger Sands Khy Progella and Sofiah Pagara in an all-Filipina matchup and won in three sets, 21-17, 18-21, 15-12, on Friday, May 2.

UAAP Season 87 runner-ups Progella and Pagara recently reached the quarterfinals of the Rebisco AVC Beach Tour Nuvali Open last April 4.

The Rondina-Pons duo later trumped American pair Melissa Powell and Lindsey Calvin in their second match of the day, 21-15, 21-14.

The tournament features pairs from 19 countries, including powerhouses like the USA, Germany, Latvia, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan.

Four other members from Alas Pilipinas’ women’s and men’s team are also set to participate in the tournament.
