The University of Santo Tomas Junior Golden Tigresses showcased their serving prowess over the UPIntegrated School Junior Fighting Maroons in a commanding straight-set victory, 25-7, 25-7, 25-18 on Wednesday Oct. 2 at the Paco Arena.

Kim Rubin powered the Junior Golden Tigresses' in their dominant win with 11 points, including 7 service aces, while playmaker Aneeza Santos tallied 11 excellent sets.

“Considering na bago mag-start yung training, start kami sa service. And then, after, bago matapos yung training din namin, nage-end up din kami sa service. So talagang ensayado naman yan. Hopefully, maging consistent siya this past remaining games namin,” said UST coach Yani Fernandez.

Santos' one-two play sparked UST's 11-0 run in the opening frame, the set ended with a net violation from the Katipunan-based squad.

Rubin showered the Junior Fighting Maroons with heavy serves that dismantled UPIS’ floor defense, 18-1.

Junior Golden Tigresses' second setter Jezrel Silvestre closed the second salvo with another service ace.

UST’s second stringers faced a daunting task in the third after errors plagued their game until a seven-point run courtesy of Ryzel Laag put the España-based squad at match point, and delivered the killing blow from the middle, 25-17

Junior Fighting Maroons’ team captain and opposite hitter Janella Guarino led UPIS with four points from three attacks and one service ace.

The Junior Golden Tigresses will return to the Paco Arena on Sunday, Oct. 6, to face last season's runners-up, National University Lady Bullpups.
