The UST Golden Spikers overwhelmed the Ateneo Blue Eagles in straight sets, 25-22, 25-16, 25-18, in the V-league Men’s Collegiate Challenge on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Paco Arena.

Opposite hitter Jayrack Dela Noche propelled the team with 17 points on 14 attacks, two blocks, and one service ace. While Paul Colinares and Gboy De Vega had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Tied at the 20-point marker, UST widened the gap through a block from Colinares and an attack error from the Blue Eagles while a quick attack from Trevor Valera sealed the first set, 25-22.

Coming into the second salvo, the Golden Spikers maintained the momentum with a commanding nine-point lead to end the set.

UST led the match two sets to none, following a middle attack, courtesy of Colinares, 25-16.

Dela Noche delivered the match for the Golden Spikers in the fourth frame with four consecutive points anchored on a solid kill block on Ateneo's Ken Batas and a strong cross-court attack, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Batas and Jian Salarzon led the Blue Eagles, scoring 10 and nine points, respectively.

With their playoff berth secured, the Golden Spikers will await the winner of the clash between the NU Bulldogs and the DLSU Green Spikers to determine their final standing.
