UST claimed a golden double for the second straight year in the UAAP Season 86 street dance competition after UST Prime and UST Galvanize ruled in both collegiate and high school divisions on Wednesday, May 29, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
UST Prime dominated the street dance stage, garnering a total of 90.50 points, while Galvanize defended their title with 86.17 points in their fourth straight street dance conquest.
Prime and Galvanize both went back in time as they grooved through old-school and OPM-inspired themes, showcasing a classic yet unique approach to their winning pieces.
“We wanted to do something different and at the same time something light,” UST Prime head coach Chips Beltran said.
The FEU Street Alliance followed UST on the podium, bagging a silver medal with 89.17 points, while UP Street Club bagged a bronze medal with 86.33 points.
The Company of Ateneo Dancers was just 0.17 points shy of a podium finish (86.17), settling in fourth place. The NU Dance Company, with a futuristic theme, garnered 84.50 points, landing the fifth spot.
The Adamson University Dance Company-Street finished with 83.17 points, alongside the La Salle Dance Company with 82.33 points, rounding up the winners in sixth and seventh places, respectively.
The UAAP street dance competition is the last sporting event of the season, and the closing ceremonies follow right after.
UST was awarded its 47th overall championship in the same event.
