The UST Golden Booters had to settle for a 2-2 draw in their clash against the top seeded FEU Tamaraws in the UAAP Season 86 football tournament on Sunday, April 14, at the UP Diliman Football Pitch.
Tamaraw rookie Nickos Mamon put FEU ahead 18 minutes after kickoff to give FEU a 1-0 lead.
UST came alive in the waning moments of the first half, netting two goals, courtesy of Kyler Escobar and Chris Valderama who scored in the 38th and 40th minute, respectively, to give the Golden Booters a 2-1 lead by the end of the first half.
FEU’s search for an equalizer in the second half ultimately paid off after Mamon found the back of the net through a tap-in on the 86th minute to end the match at two goals apiece.
Mamon’s brace against the Golden Booters was his first pair of nets since FEU’s 4-2 thrashing of UP back in February.
The draw dropped the Golden Booters to third seed with 17 points and a +10 goal difference.
UST will face the bottom-seeded Adamson University on Thursday, April 25, at the same venue.
