The UST Junior Tiger Spikers ended their UAAP Season 86 boys volleyball campaign, losing to the NUNS Bullpups, 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 17-25, on Feb. 2, at the FilOIl EcoOil Centre.

With the win, the Bullpups will enter their fourth straight boys volleyball finals appearance. This time against the UE Junior Warriors.

Meanwhile, the Junior Tiger Spikers finished the season as fourth-placers.

UST held control in the first set, jumping to an early lead before drawing first blood through a Jancriz Ayco attack, 25-23.

NUNS then took over as the Bullpups leaned on a Kobe Aca-ac, Jeffe Gallego, and Herbert Egger’s exploit.

After a 4-0 UST start in the third set, Aca-ac scored four of the 5-0 run the Bullpups fired to regain control of the game and pull away.

The Bullpups continued to romp UST in the fourth frame, jumping on a seven-point lead off a 10-4 run midway through to create a comfortable margin.

UST’s Ron Poja, and Ayco tried to stir a late rally with two saved match points, but Aca-ac sealed NUNS’ finals berth with a down-the-line hit, 25-17.

The Junior Tiger Spikers finished the season with eight victories and six losses.
