UST settles for fourth after loss to top seed Adamson

The UST Tiger Cubs yielded to the top seeded Adamson Baby Falcons, 80-66, to settle for a fourth-place finish in the UAAP Season 86 boys basketball tournament on Jan. 31, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

The Tiger Cubs dominated from start to finish, leading by as big as 19 points. Adamson also scored 26 points off UST’s 20 turnovers in the game.

The Baby Falcons dominated inside, scoring the Tiger Cubs, 40-22 in points in the paint.

With the loss, UST duplicated its standing from last season, then also losing to the Baby Falcons.

Wacky Ludovice led the Tiger Cubs with 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting off the bench, while Andrei Dungo added 17 points, albeit on an underwhelming 3-for-11 clip.

As a team, the Tiger Cubs shot 21-for-56 (37.5%).

The Tiger Cubs finished the eliminations with an 8-6 record. Season 86 was the Tiger Cubs' first season under Manu Inigo

Dungo, Sam Reyes, Brix Versoza, and JB Lim are among the graduating students for the Tiger Cubs.

UST never recovered from a 12-3 Adamson run in the second quarter.

The Baby Falcons then exacted another 11-3 burst to build their biggest lead of 19 in the third quarter.

Adamson advanced to the finals for the second straight year.

Vince Reyes led the Baby Falcons with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
