The Tigers has reached an all-time low.

The UST Growling Tigers slid to their 19th straight loss, faltering against the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 77-97, to stay winless in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena, Oct. 18.

Nic Cabanero led the team once again with 21 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, lifting UST in another losing effort.

Christian Manaytay also showed might with 17 markers, on an efficient 6-for-11 shooting, alongside seven boards, while Migs Pangilinan added 11 points and five rebounds.

The result extended UST’s all-time longest losing streak to 19 games as they fall to 0-6 in the season.

Ateneo made 12 threes on about 52 percent shooting to seize control of the game, doubling the total threes made by UST.

The Blue Eagles jumped to an early double-digit lead, 17-6, in the first quarter, but UST pulled themselves back through inside points off penetrations and efficient free-throw shooting to trail by only seven points at halftime.

Tigers then chopped the lead to four points in the third quarter, but the Blue Eagles zoomed to a 17-3 run, stretching the lead to 18, 61-79, as the defending champions never looked back.

Chris Koon topscored for the Blue Eagles with 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Kai Balunggay and Joseph Obasa each had 17 points in Ateneo’s third win in six games.

The Growling Tiger will wrap up their first-round campaign against the FEU Tamaraws on Sunday at the same venue.
