The University of Santo Tomas deepens its roster for the upcoming UAAP seasons as five prospects look to enforce the Growling Tigers men's basketball team.
Kyle Paranada, Vince Ventulan, Ashon Andrews, Geremy Robinson Jr., and Leland Estacio will bring their talents to Espana, gearing the team for years to come.
Among the adopted talents, former UE Red Warrior Paranada is the most promising prospect as the five-foot-nine guard powered the Recto-based crew last season with norms of 11.64 points while shooting 26 percent from the three-point area, 4.21 assists, 2.86 rebounds, and 1.64 steals in his 23 minutes of playtime.
Paranada will be having a two-year playing eligibility for the Tigers starting Season 87.
Along with Paranada, the six-foot-four Fil-Am prospect from Florida, Vince Ventulan sets his sights on greatness as he looks to aid the Growling Tigers with his athleticism this upcoming Season 86.
Ventulan concluded his senior year with the Ave Maria Gyrenes in Florida with 4.8 points on 36 percent shooting from deep, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 rebounds in his 21.1-minute average playtime.
The former UP Fighting Maroon Ashon Andrews craves a shot in unleashing his prowess with the Tigers after only playing limited minutes in three game appearances for his previous team in the preseason leagues.
Unlike Paranada, Andrews has an extra year to play for the Tigers also starting in Season 87
The same goes for six-foot-two Geremy Robinson Jr., who looks to expend his 4-year playing eligibility after being listed as a reserve for La Salle Green Archers last season.
Expectations are set for the young Robinson Jr. being the son of former PBA import Geremy Robinson who last saw action as the foreign reinforcement of Air21 in 2011.
In his sophomore year at West Valley College in Saratoga, California, the six-foot-two guard Leland Estacio averaged 3.6 points with a 40 percent average from three, paired with 1.6 rebounds in his 11.8 minutes of average playing time to round up the new wave of recruits for the Growling Tigers
The four, Paranada, Robinson Jr., Estacio, and Andrews will be undergoing residency before gaining clearance to play in 2024.
Vince Ventulan, on the other hand, is set to play this Season 86 along with high school standouts SJ Moore and Mark Llemit, alongside stars Nic Cabanero and Adama Faye.
With the backing of the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) following the official appointment of SMC sports director Alfrancis Chua as the Special Assistant to the Rector for Sports, UST is optimistic for a resurgence this upcoming season
