The adviser of Tiger Media Network (TMN) encouraged talents and radio jocks of the organization to continue to join succeeding editions of the International Student Broadcasting Championships (ISBC) for experience after finishing as runners-up in four categories in the 2024 competition.
“We’ll keep on joining kasi [it is a] good experience for our volunteers, [and] more workshops for the talents and jocks,” TMN head Asst. Prof. Faye Abugan said to TomasinoWeb.
ISBC announced the following Tiger Radio volunteers as runner-ups during a live-streamed awards ceremony on Nov. 22:
- Karl Alvero in the People’s Choice Talent
- Coleen Hufanda in the Best Program/Content Director
- George Medallon in the Best Talk Presenter
- Francesa Mangulabnan in the Best Voiceover
Abugan said the student radio organization’s performance this year was pitted against more participants who entered the competition.
“I think lang mas lumelevel up lang [‘yung competition], mas marami lang talaga yung entries now and feeling ko napag aralan na rin nila tayo,” she said.
This year’s ISBC had 34 categories and four to six finalists per category in Radio, Podcast, Digital Content, E-Sports Broadcasting, and People Choice. The entries were judged by a panel of 50 judges from 21 countries.
Tiger Radio bagged the Station of the Year award in 2023. This year, Cornell University’s WVBR 93.5 FM and John Carroll University’s WCJU 88.7 FM shared the award.
