The rediscovery of prayer shows hope to the Lord as He fulfills the limitations that we declare, Rev. Fr. Reginald Malicdem said during the Misa Mayor for the feast day of the Santisimo Rosario on Sunday, Oct. 6.
During his homily at the Santisimo Rosario Parish, the vicar general of the Archdiocese of Manila said that people forget to pray even if it is the “most basic element in our Christian life,” while through praying, we will hear assurance from God.
According to Malicdem, when hopefuls encounter difficulties, they ask God for help, and the Lord will “make the impossible possible.”
“Ipaubaya mo ito at magtiwala ka [sa Diyos],” the vicar general said.
This is the same as how Mary often asked the same question twice, but through her prayer to God, the power of the Holy Spirit resolved her uncertainties.
Malicdem commented that most of us feel less joy; even those who are close to the Church are often grumpy, but this should not be the case as “prayer should bear the fruit of joy in us.”
“Our prayer should make us joyful persons because we encounter Jesus through it,” he said.
“Mama Mary was a joyful woman because of Jesus,” Malicdem added.
At the end of his homily, the vicar general emphasized that hopefuls should be “prayers” as this will show trust and faith in the Lord.
“May our lives be a life of prayer. [For our] faith to be deepened, trust be strengthened and [for] joy exude to from our hearts,” Malicdem said.
A solemn procession followed the Misa Mayor to celebrate the 82nd Fiesta del Santisimo Rosario.
