As devotees of Mary, our mission is to carry only Jesus in our hearts, Rev. Fr. Enrico Adoviso said on Friday, Sept. 26, at the Santisimo Rosario Parish.

During his homily for the enthronement mass of the image of Nuestra Señora del Santisimo Rosario, the parish priest of the Our Lady of Loreto Parish remarked that we should carry God within us and not those that can destroy our faith.

“Si Hesus lamang ang dapat na pumasok sa puso at wala nang iba. Hindi ang mga bagay na nakakasira sa debosyon at pagsunod sa Panginoon,” Adoviso said.

The Ark of the Covenant carries the Ten Commandments of God, with both David and Mary carrying it with happiness and praising the Lord.

According to Adoviso, Mary is the new Ark of the Covenant, the one that first carried the Ten Commandments and how Jesus Himself.

“Siya ang bagong kaban ng tipan, una ay dala-dala niya ito ngunit ngayon siya ang bagong sisidlan. Sa kaniyang puso ay dala-dala niya si Hesus at hindi lamang sa sinapupunan,” he said.

In this way, we too are vessels, and as one, we should spread the word of God and live according to it as true followers of Mary.

“Tayo bilang taga-sunod ni Hesus, sana hindi lang pinakikinggan ang salita ng Diyos kung hindi nakikita rin si Hesus sa buhay natin,” Adoviso said.

As we spread His word, it should not only be contained within the University but also beyond it, even outside of our homes.

Adoviso said that people have a tendency to go out of control away from those who can recognize them, however, a true Christian “proclaims the word of God in season and out of season.”

At the end of his homily, he reminisced about his mother’s devotion since she was healed as a child. Through this, he noted that we should continue our devotion to Mary and spread God’s words just like how his mother did so during her life.
