The UST Golden Tigresses returned to their winning ways after dismantling the Adamson Lady Falcons in four sets, 22-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-20, en route to booking the first spot in the Final Four of the UAAP Season 86 volleyball tournament on Wednesday, April 3, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Super Rookie Angeline Poyos dominated the scoring department, tallying a career-high 31 points, while Jonna Perdido and Regina Jurado racked up 12 points apiece in the winning effort.

The Tigresses got off to a shaky start after squandering a six-point cushion early in the opening set following a 3-0 run that cut UST's lead to 13-10. A tip over from rookie Barbie Jamili put Adamson ahead, 22-25.

Both teams were neck-and-neck into the waning moments of the second frame until UST’s offensive prowess sparked a 6-1 run for the Tigresses that stretched their lead to 23-17.

An attack from Jurado off a block from the hands of Adamson evened things out for the España based squad, 25-20.

The Tigresses held off a late surge from the Falcons that saw them even up the third salvo at 23 apiece before extending the set through a kill from Mayang Nuique. Bianca Plaza returned the favor and came up with two crucial kills to put UST on the brink of securing their spot in the final four, 26-24.

UST kept their momentum going into the fourth set, ultimately finishing off the Lady Falcons through a kill from rookie Mary Coronado, 25-20.

Jamili led the Lady Falcons in scoring with 20 points, followed by Ishie Lalongisip who mustered up 14 markers and Ayesha Juegos who had 12 points.

The Tigresses remain on top with a 9-1 record and are set to go head-to-head against the UP Fighting Maroons on Wednesday, April 10, at the same venue.
