Being the child Jesus, continuing being so, and guiding the children to Him connects to being a synodal church according to Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle on the closing mass of the 10th Philippines Conference on New Evangelization at the Quadricentennial Pavilion on Sunday, Jan. 21.
The last day of the PCNE coincides with the feast of the child Jesus who signifies as God journeying with us said by the pro-prefect of the Dicastery of Evangelization during his homily.
"The incarnation of the eternal word of God born as a child is the kenosis of the eternal word without losing his divinity," Tagle said.
Cardinal Tagle also emphasized that the only word to describe how God walks is that it is humble.
In addition, Jesus continued to be a child despite ageing because of his openness, dependence, and listening to Him.
"Ang sikreto para manatiling bata, magpakumbaba, umasa sa Diyos ama, katulad ni Hesus," Tagle said.
We have to carry children towards God because children cannot stand on their own that needs protection and blessings of the Lord.
He also said that we should not be like the disciples that hindered the children to come near Jesus as the synodal path is a humble walk.
"Let the Santo Niño always remind us, l remain humble so that I always walk as my God the Father directed me," the PCNE founder said.
At the end of his homily, he hoped for the people to not hinder a lot of people walking with God.
Meanwhile, various artists and performers participated in the celebration concert including Angeline Quinto, the GOMBURZA cast, Cardinal Chito, Feast Worship and other singers that preceded the Eucharistic celebration.
