The sudden lights in the sky during the first Christmas and today's fireworks both bring joy to people according to the University Rector during the Paskuhan Mass on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
Rev. Fr. Richard Ang, O.P. said during his homily at the Plaza Mayor that fireworks and angels are not just for a show, but signals that the birth of Jesus is near.
He said that one of the things that make Thomasians happy during the Paskuhan festivities are these fireworks along with how the University is filled with bright decorations.
This is the same as how the shepherds and Mary and Joseph are happy despite their struggles as they found Jesus as the source of their joy.
The University Rector referred to the fireworks display which occurs usually after Agape or the opening of lights and after the Paskuhan concert.
The bright decorations meanwhile are the lights and decorations displayed around the University, which this year featured a Mario videogame theme.
This year, however, the opening of lights and the Agape occurred separately unlike the previous years when it happened on the same day.
Ang also highlighted that genuine happiness comes from accepting Jesus in our lives and you cannot force or fake it.
"Joy does not depend on what we have, on what is happening around us, or on anything superficial," he said.
Ang ended his homily wishing Thomasians happiness and being the bearer of good tidings.
The distribution of food packs, which is one of the most anticipated parts of the Agape took place after the Paskuhan mass.
