The UST Golden Tigresses remained unbeaten in the Shakey's Super League Pre-season Championship after thwarting the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers, 25-13, 22-25, 25-12, 25-22, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre on Monday, September 25.

Jonna Perdido led the balanced attack of the Tigresses putting up 20 points, while Regina Jurado added 19 to propel UST to its third win of the tournament.

Down 18-20 in the fourth set, UST turned the game around with a 6-2 tear before Jurado punctuated the victory with a crosscourt attack.

Golden Tigresses wrapped up their Pool C play with a 3-0 win-loss card to top the group.

After a lopsided first set in favor of the Tigresses, CSB capitalized on an error-plagued UST in the second frame, knotting the set score after the España-based crew coughed up 12 errors against the two of the Lady Blazers.

But the Tigresses relied on their attacks the rest of the way as UST zoomed to a double-digit lead in the third set through an early 10-2 run to pull away heading to the fourth frame.

UST continued to lean on that offensive dominance, overcoming Lady Blazers' mini-runs in the final frame en route to the closeout job of Jurado.

The Tigresses finished with 70 attacks, a heap more than the Lady Blazers' 41.

UST advanced to the second round of the tournament slated on October 14 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
