The University of Santo Tomas Female Tennisters succumbed to the National University Lady Bulldogs, 1-3, in the first game of the UAAP Season 87 women’s tennis finals on Wednesday, April 9, at the Felicisimo Ampon Tennis Center.

Jasmine Jaran opened the matchup with a 6-4, 6-3 win over UST’s Patricia Lim, in favor of the Lady Bulldogs.

Female Tennister Kaye Emana responded after escaping NU’s Danna Abad in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, to tie the matchup at 1-1.

Elise Abarquez made quick work of UST’s Mica Emana, 6-3, 6-1, to give the Lady Bulldogs the lead again, 2-1.

Female Tennisters Judy Ann Padilla and Princess Gom-os attempted to equalize and extend the battle against NU’s Rovie Baulete and Adi Abadia.

However, the Lady Bulldog duo were able to fend off the attempt and seal the game with a 6-2, 6-2 win over the Thomasian pair.

The España-based squad will hope to extend the series against the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, April 12, in the same venue.
