The University grabbed best Philippine school in the inaugural Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, which assess accomplishments of schools in different scientific fields.
UST garnered 39.8 - 42.5 points and was ranked in the 251-300 bracket worldwide. The University attained 54.7 in inputs, 66.7 in process, and 29.7 in outputs.
The University is one of just two Philippine schools to be ranked in the newly released THE rankings.
Mapua University is the second school below UST with a 501–600 classification.
THE utilized 11 precisely calibrated performance indicators to evaluate the institutions in three main areas, each of which represented a stage in the research project life cycle: the inputs (financing); process (success, facilities, administrative support, and promotion); and outputs (publications, research quality, and credibility).
The following schools across in the Philippines obtained a “Reporter” status by the THE due to their inability to complete the qualifying requirements:
- Cebu Technological University
- Lyceum-Northwestern University
- Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology
- Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST)
- Quezon City University
- Saint Louis University (Philippines)
- University of Eastern Philippines
- University of the Immaculate Conception
- Visayas State University
The newly issued ranking, created by THE in collaboration with Schmidt Science Fellows, is the first attempt to quantify the contributions and dedication to interdisciplinary science made by institutions.
THE rated 749 institutions from 92 countries, setting a new benchmark for new rankings
