Three Thomasians secured spots in the top 10 of the April 2024 Physician Licensure Examinations (PLE), while the University was ranked as the second-best performing school.
Thomasian Edison Ong landed at the second spot with an 89.08 percent rating, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Thursday, April 18.
Vergel Jigs Enriquez and Eryll Paolo Alea landed at no. 6 and no. 8, respectively. Enriquez garnered a score of 87.67 percent, while Alea received 87.08 percent.
Meanwhile, the University placed second on the list of top-performing schools after producing 56 new doctors out of 66 examinees. Its passing rate was 84.85 percent. This was lower than the 91.43 percent passing rate for the October 2023 PLE.
UST was second only to the University of the East-Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, which gained 58 passers out of 65 examinees for 89.23 percent passing rate.
Christopher Niño Duane Mendoza of Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine led the batch with an 89.25 percent rating.
According to the PRC, there were 1,906 passers out of 3,434 examinees for the April 2024 physician boards.
The Physician board exam was conducted at testing centers in Metro Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga on April 7-8 and 14-15, 2024.
