The UST Golden Sox ended their UAAP Season 86 Final Four campaign after enduring a grueling 4-6 defeat against defending champions DLSU Green Batters on Sunday, April 14, at the UP Baseball Field.

A tight-knit start saw UST down by only a single run, 1-2, heading into the fourth inning until an error by UST shortstop Jesus Cabigao gave Green Batter JM Segui a chance to reach base.

DLSU's Shinji Kajihara and Lord Aragorn De Vera made the most out of the said salvo, hitting back-to-back singles to bring home Segui and Kajihara and extend the lead to three, 4-1 for the Green Batters.

The efforts of DLSU's Peter Nonnailada also proved crucial as he struck out a resurgent UST, keeping them scoreless in the fourth.

UST, however, kept the game tight through the efforts of Marvin Trillana and Mhigeil Cerda, who scored consecutive runs in the fifth inning to cut the lead back to one, 3-4.

La Salle's three runs in the remaining innings proved pivotal, holding the España-based squad to a single run in the said period to end their Season 86 campaign, 4-6.

The Green Batters will face the NU Bulldogs in the finals in a bid for their third straight championship on Thursday, April 19 at the same venue.

Meanwhile for UST, six members of their current squad are set to graduate this year, leaving a gap to fill for the Golden Sox in their upcoming season.
