The UST Growling Tigresses showed dominance, defeating the UE Lady Warriors 103-54, to secure the third Final Four spot in the UAAP Season 86 Women's Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Kent Pastrana led the pack with 17 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block, while Brigette Santos contributed 16 points, three boards, and three dimes.

The commanding win took the Tigresses to an 8-3 record, clinching the third Final Four slot alongside NU and UP.

UST made quick work of UE after establishing a 14-point lead, rounding up the first quarter while not allowing the Recto-based squad to catch up, finishing the first half with a 50-28 scoreline.

Proving to be too much to handle, the Tigresses wrapped up the run-away game against the Lady Warriors with a 49-point lead.

The Tigresses controlled the board by tallying 60 rebounds vs UE’s 44, 10 of those coming from Rocel Dionisio alone.

They also showed perfect team chemistry by outputting 26 dimes vs UE’s 12 assists.

UST will attempt to maintain their standing in their match against the Adamson University Lady Falcons on Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Miguel Sumalinog is the President of TomasinoWeb. Mostly known as “Suma” among his friends and peers, he was exposed to campus media and photography way before he was a Thomasian and owes major credit to those initial experiences. He portrays his commitment through his various outputs in photography especially in covering UAAP content for the publication. As leads in TomasinoWeb’s Photography department, he has exposure to the non-stop action that the UAAP and other leagues offer. Outside of the sports beat, Suma also covers various campus events and national happenings as work doesn’t stop with his beat alone and venturing out of it provides experience that cannot be taught within the four corners of a classroom. When he’s not fanboying over Eya Laure and Cassie Carballo during volleyball coverages, Suma spends most of his time in front of his computer playing VALORANT and other various competitive games. He also passes time on the court by playing badminton.
