Thomasians send off University athletes ahead of full-calendar Season 85

Thomasians celebrated its UAAP Season 85 athlete send-off, "Tiger Resurgence: UAAP Kickoff Party 2022", at the Quadricentennial Pavilion on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

The University held its first face-to-face UAAP Kickoff party hosted by UST Tiger TV after three years since the onset of the pandemic.

The annual send-off program for the Tiger athletes aims to foster the Thomasian school spirit.

The University is now in its fifth consecutive UAAP general championship.

This year's roster of the UST Growling Tiger rookies were introduced, among them were: Alche Gupiteo (UST Men's Volleyball), Cassie Carballo (UST Women's Volleyball), "Golden King" King Nash Alcario (UST Poomsae), Hockett Delos Santos (UST Pole Vault), and Richi Calimag (UST Men's Basketball).

An exhibition game was also held after the event where the Growling Tigers dominated the UST Alumni team with a mark of 112--93.

The upcoming season is set to start on Oct.1 with the men's and women's basketball events. UAAP has announced that they will return to the full sporting calendar of 21 sports.

UAAP Season 85 will be re-introducing the following sports: men's and women's basketball tournament, badminton, chess, table tennis, men's and women's beach volleyball, swimming, athletics, cheerdance competition, judo, taekwondo, men's and women's football, men's and women's volleyball, fencing, softball, baseball, 3×3 basketball, streetdance and lawn tennis.

The event was live streamed on UST Tiger TV's official Facebook page.

Angela Gabrielle Atejera was the Assistant Reports Editor of TomasinoWeb. Before pledging herself to the org, she took a three-year hiatus from journalism to pursue her calling for the health sciences. Currently, Angela is pursuing her degree in medical technology, as evidenced by her knack for doodling squiggly microorganisms in her free time. She also plays the piano to soothe her soul, like a true Renaissance woman.
