The University was one of 14 schools and only Philippine-based school to receive a silver rating in the introductory edition of the Online Learning Rankings (OLR) 2024 released by the Times Higher Education (THE) on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
THE awarded gold, silver, and bronze to schools based on the performance of their online academic services.
Ratings were based on each institution’s resources for online learning (35%), online student engagement (25%), outcomes from student involvement (15%), and its learning environment (25%), along with universities’ implementation of at least 40 percent of content from their online learning courses.
UST scored 49.4 percent for online learning resources, 66.0 percent in online student engagement, 50.5 percent in student involvement outcomes, and 50.3 percent for the learning environment category.
A total of 56 universities were classified into gold, silver, and bronze tiers, while 64 universities that failed to fully comply with the requirements were given reporter status.
Mapúa University was the only Philippine university aside from UST that appeared in the ratings. However, Mapúa only received a reporter rating.- Noah Manalang
