This is a Press Release from the Artistang Artlets.
Are you ready for another AA Season?
Artistang Artlets’ Senior Members proudly present their newest production titled, “Pagmaya, Pagsangli.” Written by Romayne Humiwat and Kyte Villanueva, the play is set in a world called Mokiti, where the arts are prohibited because of their vital role in expression and propaganda.
The story revolves around the journey of a four-piece friend group after learning that someone close to them was killed because they created art.
“Pagmaya, Pagsangli” will have four shows, with two sets of cast in rotation.
The cast of 1 PM and 4 PM shows are Gwen Elijah Gatchalian as Kai, Jonabelle Ann Azaña as Kira, Kyte Villanueva as Bell, and Jossel Jaym Leo as Drae.
The cast of the 2 PM and 5:30 PM shows are Alyssa Mae Esmeria as Kai, Arch Angel Abella as Kira, Gabrielle Marie Rasco as Bell, and Juan Miguel De Mesa as Drae.
As part of the organization’s 44th Season with the themes “Magmula, Mulayin” and “Magmula, Mulayin Para sa Sining,” Artistang Artlets, the recognized theater guild of the Faculty of Arts and Letters, hosts two theater literacy programs per season: one led by the Senior Members of the organization while the other is lead by its Junior Members.
These literary programs' purpose is to teach the vital elements of theater to both people behind and in front of the curtain and vary in focus depending on the production.
This production is a part of the Seniors’ Theater Literacy Program, where for this play, the chosen focus is on Techincal Direction, specifically on Dramatic Music and Expressive Lighting and how these three elements work together to create a deeper impact on their audience and to bring a story to life the way it deserves to be told.
Directed by Maria Cathrina Aquino and managed by Marie Lilac Yson, “Pagmaya, Pagsangli” explores the themes of Coming of Age and Positive Change.
Do not miss it out, Thomasians! This is only a one-day performance happening this weekend, November 16, 2024, at the UST Thomas Aquinas Research Complex (TARC) Auditorium. Tickets cost P150 for UST students and P200 for outsiders.
