Forty-four Thomasians from the University passed during the October 2024 Chemists Licensure Examinations (CLE), the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Monday, Oct. 21.
UST recorded a 61.97 percent passing rate producing 44 new Thomasian chemists out of 71 examinees, slightly higher than the December 2023 board passing rate, where 37 out of its 68 takers passed, logging a 55.22 percent passing rate.
Christlen Carlo Olivares from the Ateneo De Manila University led the batch with a 94.1 percent passing rate.
The University of the Philippines - Los Baños was recognized as the top-performing school, with 48 passers out of 53 examinees, earning a 90.57 percent passing rate.
According to PRC, the passing rate jumped to 54.41 percent or 592 passers out of 1,088 examinees from 51.74 percent or 594 passers out of 1,148 examinees last December 2023 boards.
Chemical technician boards
Meanwhile, the University garnered 111 new chemical technicians out of its 118 takers in the October 2024 Chemical Technicians Licensure Examination (CTLE), results released alongside CLE.
UST’s score in the October 2024 boards slightly dipped from December 2023’s 94.67 percent or 142 passers out of 150 examinees to 94.07 or 111 passers out of 118 examinees.
The Technological University of the Philippines - Visayas ranked top-performing school with a perfect passing rate.
Dexter Costruas Mas from the Eastern Visayas State University - Tacloban and Justtine James Vega of the Bicol University - Legazpi shared the board’s top spot with a 91.50 percent rating.
PRC’s passing rate dipped to 77.83 percent or 2,110 out of 2,711 examinees from 82.86 percent or 2,600 out of 3,138 examinees in December 2023.
The licensure examinations for chemists and chemical technicians took place in the National Capital Region, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pampanga, Tacloban, Rosales, and Zamboanga last Oct. 14 and 15. - with reports from C.A. Tabunda
