The Thomasian Welcome Walk and in-person ROARientation in the Manila campus are set to commence on Monday, Aug. 5.
Over 11,921 first-year students are enrolled this academic year 2024-2025, slightly less than last year's 11,987 students.
The morning batch of the traditional Welcome Walk will start at 11 a.m., while the afternoon session will be at 5 p.m.
Here are the faculties and colleges included in the morning batch:
- Faculty of Arts and Letters
- College of Accountancy
- College of Information and Computing Sciences
- College of Fine Arts and Design
- College of Rehabilitation Sciences
- Learning-Enhanced Accelerated Program for Medicine (LEAPMed)
- Faculty of Medicine and Surgery
- Conservatory of Music
- College of Nursing
- Faculty of Pharmacy
The afternoon batch will include students from the following faculties/colleges:
- College of Architecture
- Faculty of Civil Law
- Ecclesiastical Faculties
- College of Education
- College of Commerce and Business Administration
- Faculty of Engineering
- College of Science
- College of Tourism and Hospitality Management
- Graduate School
- Institute of Physical Education and Athletics
- Graduate School of Law
Both sessions will be preceded by the Welcome Mass at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the ROARientation at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m, respectively.
The University will limit cars inside the campus on Aug. 5 and 7 but suggests attendees be dropped off through the following points:
- España Boulevard bus stops near Gate 2 and 6
- P. Noval Street near Gate 7
- Dapitan Street between Gate 9 and 10
- Lacson Street near Gate 14
UST Central Student Council reminded attendees not to bring food and beverages except flasks inside the Quadricentennial Pavilion.
GenSan Thomasians’ first Welcome Walk
Meanwhile, the inaugurated General Santos campus will host its inaugural Welcome Walk on Aug. 29, welcoming its first batch of Thomasian first-year students.
UST Gensan will welcome students from BS Accounting Information System, BS Entrepreneurship, BS Industrial Engineering, BS Medical Technology, and BS Pharmacy.
During an inaugural event at the campus, a plan to build an "Arch of the New Century" was announced by UST Rector Fr. Richard Ang, O.P. However, the administration has yet to plan and execute the construction.
The event will be attended by Fr. Ang, Secretary-General Fr. Louie Coronel, O.P., members of the faculty, and UST alumni.
Fr. Roberto Luanzon, O.P, the OIC for UST General Santos Office of the Associate Vice Rector for Finance, said the university "was born" during the Misa y Discurso de Apertura held on Aug. 2.—With reports from Maujerie Miranda
