29 Thomasian electronic engineers, 17 electronic technicians pass April 2024 boards

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) produced 29 new electronic engineers in the April 2024 Electronic Engineering (ECE) licensure examinations, results released by the [Professional Regulation Commission](https://www.prc.gov.ph/article/april-2024-electronics-engineers-licensure-examination-results-released-three-3-working-days#:~:text=The%20Professional%20Regulation%20Commission%20(PRC,%2C%20Cebu%2C%20Davao%2C%20Iloilo%2C) on Wednesday, April 17 showed.

UST’s passing rate stood at 45.31 percent, with 29 passers out of 64 examinees. The passing rate was higher than the 42.75 percent obtained by the University in the October 2023 ECE, where 56 out of its 131 examinees passed.

Niele Baña of the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP)-Visayas snagged the top spot with a score of 91.80 percent, followed by UP Diliman’s Joaquin Jison with 91.10 percent.

The University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman was the only top-performing school, with 50 out of 55 examinees passing for a passing rate of 90.91 percent. The PRC rates top-performing schools that sent 50 or more examinees, of which at least 80 percent passed.

Electronic Technicians

Meanwhile, the University obtained an 80.95 percent passing rate in the Electronic Technicians Licensure Examination, as 17 out of 21 Thomasians passed the examination. The passing rate was lower than the 93.88 percent it posted in the October 2023 exams.

With the same criteria as the Electronic Engineering Boards, UST also failed to secure a spot to be named a.

TUP Visayas led the top-performing schools with a passing rate of 93.06 percent, followed by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Sta. Mesa (91.30 percent), Iloilo Science and Technology University (88.00 percent), TUP Manila (82.88 percent), and Batangas State University - Alangilan (81.16 percent).

The licensure examination for Electronic Engineers was held in the cities of Metro Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales and Tuguegarao from April 11 to 12.
