Thomasian Ephraim Bie led the new batch of lawyers in the 2023 Bar examination with 89.26 percent, results announced by the Supreme Court on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Bie was a graduate of the UST Journalism School in 2015.
Another Thomasian, Pio Buencamino, landed on the eighth spot with 88.25 percent.
The University remained the fifth top-performing law school in the 2023 Bar examinations.
UST has produced 104 new Thomasian lawyers and obtained an 85.25 percent passing rate from the preceding 79.87 percent.
Meanwhile, Ateneo de Manila University was hailed as the top-performing school, with more than 100 examinees with a 94.08 percent passing rate.
It was followed by the San Beda University in second, the University of San Carlos in third, the University of the Philippines in fourth, and then UST.
The national passing rate for this year’s bar is 36.77 percent, as 3,812 takers passed the examination out of the 10,387, this is lower than the previous Bar examination with a 43.7 percent passing rate.
