The UST Tiger Jins reigned supreme in the UAAP Season 86 poomsae tournament on Monday, Nov. 27, at the Marikina Sports Center.

After an unsuccessful title defense last season, the Tiger Jins recaptured the poomsae crown and ruled the competition, bagging two gold, two silver, and one bronze medals in the one-day event.

Season MVP Chelsea Tacay emerged as the top female jin of the tournament after securing 8.167 points, beating DLSU's Sofia Sarmiento for UST's first gold.

The duo of Tacay and team captain Vincent Rodriguez dominated the mixed category with 8.167 points after outlasting DLSU’s Patrick Perez and Khia Cortez to secure the second gold for the España-based squad.

“Last year, hindi namin nabigyan ng exit 'yung mga seniors namin. This time, 'yung championship na 'to is dedicated sa mga batchmates ko na ga-graduate na,” said the 22-year-old Tacay.

Tiger Jins' trio Allyson Serapio, Stella Yape, and Season 84’s Rookie-MVP and Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Aidaine Laxa tallied 8.117 points but fell short against UP's Joanna Jubelag, Alyssa Caabay, and Jona Castillo to settle for a silver medal in the women's team category.

UST’s Nash Alcairo aided with a bronze medal in the male individual category and finished with 8.034 points for the Tiger Jins.

Alcairo also teamed up with Dane Subaste and Jeus Yape in the men’s team category, scoring 8.100 points to clinch UST’s second silver medal.

De La Salle University secured a 1-2-0 medal tally to finish as this season’s runner-up, while defending champions National University settled for a third-place finish with a 1-1-3 haul.
