The Students Tourism Society (STS) gave a little twist to the usual beauty pageant and held SAPLOT 2009, a one of a kind advocacy pageant for the last day of their college week at the Albertus Magnus Building last August 20.

The pageant’s theme:  “Into the Wild:  SAPLOT 2009” focused on the wild life preservation and conservation.

All 16 contestants, 9 females and 7 males, were clad in a wildlife-inspired stage costumes created by their class.

Rachelle Ritarita outshone everyone with a captivating lion-like outfit and was hailed as the winner of the Saplot 2009.

A tiger design won Ismail Martin from 1T4 the best in advocacy and best in shirt design awards while irregular student Jannine Munoz bagged the best in theme wear and crowds favorite award with her elephant look outfit.

Ritarita sealed the victory with her witty answer of the three parrots in the photo that was asked to be interpreted. “(The three parrots are) the values that we should do to protect nature: care, concern and captivate.”

The photo was from Ma. Lalaine D. Gregorio of 3T5 which won the Photojournalism Contest, also a part of the Tourism College Week Celebration
