The University of Santo Tomas Golden Booters came back and tied the score at their 3rd game against the National University Bulldogs, 2-2, in the UAAP Season 81 Men’s football tournament at the FEU-FERN College Diliman on Sunday.
NU’s Marcel Ouano drew first blood at the 15’ by outrunning his defender.
Ouano used his quickness again to give NU the 2-0 lead with another goal at the 18’.
UST’s eagerness gave them a score with Conrad Dimacali’s goal at the 27’.
UST ended the first half trailing by one.
The Booters had their chances the whole seconnd half but failed to achieve a goal. However, Dexter Benecio scored a goal and tied the game at the extra time 90+6’.
UST’s efforts are paid and they completed the comeback forcing a draw at the last minute, 2-2. “Pero ang pinaka-importante yung players tuloy-tuloy lang yung laban nila, hindi sila nag-give up.” UST head coach Marjo Allado said.
“Marami rin kaming chances, pero at least kahit papano sa try and try, naka-goal pa rin so the players deserved the draw.”
Allado added. UST now has a 1-2-0 standing.
UST’s next opponent will be the Far Eastern University Tamaraws on Thursday, Feb. 28 at the same venue.
