Conservatory of Music Held Benefit Concert for Ondoy Victims

Published

on

As a response to the onslaught brought by the super typhoon Ondoy, the UST Conservatory of Music showcased their talents as they held a benefit concert entitled “I Am Happy You’re Alive”. This event held at the Albertus Magnus Auditorium last October 16 was organized by the Music Faculty Club and the Conservatory of Music Student Council. The proceeds shall go to the students and faculty members affected by the said typhoon. The benefit concert was also set as a tribute to a retired Filipino professor from the said college, Prof. Teresita Permejo who resided in one of the places most devastated by Ondoy, Provident Village in Marikina City.

The night witnessed breath-taking performances from the talented musicians of the Thomasian community with the world-renowned UST Singers and the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) NCR representative Coro Tomasino to name a few.

The message that the Conservatory of Music would like to impart is that what’s important is what came after the calamity. That is, people joining together for a great cause and that despite the sufferings what we can be glad of is that we are alive.
