The UST Growling Tigresses thwarted the DLSU Lady Archers, 93-67, to regain share of the no. 2 seed in the UAAP Season 86 women's basketball tournament on Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Araneta Coliseum.

Tacky Tacatac led the Tigresses with 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Brigette Santos backed her up with 12 markers and five assists.

The win propelled the Tigresses to a 7-2 win-loss record before the tournament goes for an Undas break.

UST also tied the UP Lady Maroons at the second seed in the league standings.

Up by just 10 points in the first quarter, the Tigresses seized control of the game through a 12-2 run late in the second canto to open a 21-point gap at halftime, 50-29.

UST's lead swole to as big as 36 points in the second half as the Tigresses' dominance proved to be too much for the Lady Archers' to handle.

La Salle chopped the deficit to 26 points after a 10-2 run in the early stages of the fourth period, but the late rally went to naught.

Ann Mendoza, Luisa San Juan, and Bernice Paraiso each scored 12 points to lead DLSU, who dropped to 3-6.

The Tigresses will attempt to take on the number one seed and defending champions NU Lady Bulldogs next on Nov. 5, 9 A.M, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
