Ipod Touch 3G Review

Published

on

Touch has come to iPod. After the successful series of iPods with its famous click wheel technology, Apple gave its phenomenal mp3 player a new face by introducing the revolutionary multi-touch interface that lets one scan through their songs, photos and videos faster and more exciting through ints new iPod Touch. With its looks it is clearly undeniable that it is patterned after Apple’s another successful product, the iPhone. However, it didn’t acquire the scratch-proof metal exterior of the iPhone as it obtained the usual smudge-loving, scratch-prone chrome surface previous iPods have which will make users still want to buy a protective case.

Some of the features of the iPod Touch that may make iPod lovers replace their current iPods are the player’s 3.5 inch screen which is bigger than the iPod Classic’s 2.5. However, with big screen comes a battery-hungry player. Apple claims a 22-hour music playback battery life for the iPod family’s newest member, 8 hours less than the 80 GB iPod Classic’s. Next feature that may make the tech savvies go gaga over the iPod touch and probably the most admissible reason to invest in one is its interface. With the iPod touch, picture browsing becomes more enjoyable with the player’s capability to zoom the photos in and out with just a pinch of the fingers and you can leaf through your songs using the Cover Flow technology which appears everytime the unit is flipped horizontally. You can have Internet on the go with the player’s Wi-fi Internet capability, a feature also available in the iPhone, using the Safari Web Browser which will explain the purpose of the black spot on the upper left corner of the unit which serves as the antenna. Other applications in the iPod Touch includes the Calendar, Contacts, YouTube video streaming and Calculator. The iTunes online store may not be significant for users in the country as no iTunes account may be opened here.

Taking everything into account, the iPod Touch is an mp3 player worth investing. However, with its high price and low capacity (it comes in 8, 16 & 32 GB models) buyers, especially those who love to watch videos, may prefer higher capacity players like the iPod Classic. But nothing can beat the iPod Touch’s amazing touch screen interface that surely leaves everyone knocked unconscious.

Pros: large screen for videos, Wi-fi and e-mail capabilities

Cons: Small capacity, does not support a USB Storage mode
