La Salle cruises past Lady Booters
"'Yung plan namin hindi 'yun 'yung na-execute nila."
The University of Santo Tomas Lady Booters suffered a beating at the hands of last year’s finalists De La Salle University Lady Archers, 2-6, in the UAAP Season 79 women’s football tournament, Saturday, at the Rizal Memorial Football Pitch.
Charisa Lemoran was the lone bright spot for the España-based booters as she found the back of the net via a free kick in the 47th minute, 1-3.
DLSU’s Nicole Andaya and Sara Castañeda scored in the 52nd and 54th minute to give DLSU a comfortable lead, 5-1.
In the 76th minute, Lemoran got one back, 2-5, until Kyren Dimaandal sealed the deal for La Salle, 6-2.
“Nadadaan kami sa gulat. Ang hirap i-compose yung team kapag nauunahan,” UST head coach Aging Rubio said. “Yung plan namin hindi yun yung na-execute nila.”
Andaya, Castañeda and Dimaandal netted the goals in the first half.
UST Lady Booters will try to bounce back against the defending champions University of the Philippines Lady Maroon on Saturday, March 4 at the same venue.
