Profs lauded in 18th Dangal ng UST Awards

Thomasian professors were awarded for their exemplary service to the University during the 18th Dangal ng UST Awards on Thursday, May 11 at the Medicine Auditorium.
Assoc. Prof. Allan Patrick Macabeo from the College of Science was the sole recipient of the Hall of Fame award, an award given to faculty members who received several citations in the previous years.
Macabeo has received eight awards in previous Dangal ng UST Awards.
Professor Emeritus Alfredo Co from the Faculty of Arts and Letters, together with Conservatory of Music’s Gloria Coronel received the Gawad Benavides award for having rendered 45 and 50 years of service, respectively.
The Gawad San Alberto Magno for outstanding research and innovation were awarded to seven professors: Alfredo Co, Joselito de los Reyes and Chuckberry Pascual from the Faculty of Arts and Letters; Mary Beth Maningas, Rey Papa and Oliver Villaflores from the College of Science; and Raymond Rosales from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.
The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery’s Department of Rheumatology received the Gawad Santo Domingo for their outstanding community service program.
Different professors from Arts and Letters, Science, Graduate School and the Life Support Training Center from Medicine and Surgery were the recipients of the Gawad San Lorenzo Ruiz for national and international awards.
In a speech, Rector Very Rev. Fr. Herminio V. Dagohoy, O.P, told professors to perform their responsibility as educators by delivering quality teaching.

The Dangal ng UST Awards is an annual ceremony organized by the University administration and UST Faculty Union to honor Thomasian faculty members who excel in teaching, research, and community service. This year’s theme is “Gurong May Dignidad, Turong May Kalidad”.
