The Political Science Forum (UST-TPSF), the Faculty of Arts and Letters–based political science organization of the University of Santo Tomas is launching its university-wide campaign for political education and awareness on August 30 and 31. This will be held at the Albertus Magnus auditorium.
The advocacy entitled “UST Apathy-Free: Awaken the Political Tiger in You!” aims to advance proper knowledge and understanding of politics, as part of educating Thomasians in light of their duties as Filipinos and contributors to nation building. This is our inheritance from the heroes of our four-hundred-year-old educational Institution.
Special guests at the kick-off include four big personalities from the field of government, the Church, civil society, and the academe. Their identity will be a surprise, according to organizers.
Day 1 will also feature the unveiling of the UST Apathy-Free logo by University officials and student-leaders, to be followed by the launching of another university-wide project, the “Tomasino Para Sa Pilipino 2013”, a midterm elections information campaign.
For Day 2, a top government official will visit the University and will lecture on President Aquino’s Philippine Development Plan, the blueprint of the administration for national development from 2011 to 2016.
Representing the University’s AB Political Science majors, the Political Science Forum (TPSF) President Cedrick Sagun said “We do not intend to monopolize the proper understanding of politics, but rather, we intend to share it with all our fellow Thomasians.”
TPSF membership is exclusive to Political Science majors, but according to Sagun, this is “[their] way of welcoming all Thomasians to an aware and properly educated Thomasian community”.
Thomasians are invited to visit the official UST Apathy-Free advocacy Facebook page for more details.
