UST to Welcome Freshmen, Earlier Suspension of Classes Announced

New Thomasians will be formally hailed by the University in the annual event dubbed as the “Thomasian Welcome Walk” which will comprise a Mass and a Welcome Party on June 29.

Classes in all levels will be suspended by 1p.m. as announced by the Central Student Council – earlier than the initial notice of 5 p.m. on the said date of the Walk.

The highlights of the annual event are the traditional passing through the Arch of the Centuries, which serves as the freshmen’s rite of passage, a Eucharistic Celebration at 5:30 p.m., and a post mass program at 7 p.m.

The festivity will kick off at 7:30p.m. and will be open to all Thomasian students who will be treated to a concert featuring a variety of popular local bands.

The Welcome Party will include performances from bands such as Gracenote, Stonefree, Somedaydream, Never the Strangers and singer Ney Dimaculangan of 6cyclemind. It will also include performances from UST’s very own Salinggawi Dance Troupe and UST Yellow Jackets.

The Central Student Council, one of the organizers of the event, in cooperation with its official sponsors, has prepared games for the freshmen with special prizes awaiting the winners.

According to an announcement posted by CSC online, all freshmen are encouraged to participate in the said event; everyone is advised to bring umbrella, extra clothes, and drinking water.

The Welcome Party is expected to end at around 10 p.m.
