ARTISTIC talents were showcased as Tourism students presented the seventeen regions of the Philippines in the exhibit, “Wow Pilipinas: A Destination Like No Other” last September 7 at the Albertus Magnus building.
In time with the celebration of World Tourism Month, the exhibit was part of the week-long Tourism Festival spearheaded by the Student’s Tourism Society.
“This helps us to know how to promote the regions [of the country] and make other students be nationalistic,” a Tourism student said during the exhibit.
Each class has a designated booth where they created visual presentations, usually made of indigenous materials, of their assigned region. Their representatives, dressed on their respective region, presented things about their place before the three judges.
Judges for the exhibit were Prof. Jojo Villamin and Prof. Gene Atanacio, both faculty members of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Mr. Fernando Torres, a professor from the College of Fine Arts and Design.
The three judges visited each booth, listening to how the speakers market their given region, and even receiving free tastes of native delicacies from other regions.
“This is what CTHM is all about. It’s not just having pretty faces,” Atanacio said.
Asked about what he wants to be improved in the exhibit, Atanacio suggested that to make it a “university-wide event” in order for students to enjoy and see the beauty of our country.
