Tigresses Score Win Over Tamaraws
UST Tigresses smashed the FEU Lady Tamaraws as they prevailed on all the three sets in their Dec. 13 fight at the Arena, San Juan. The Tigresses instantly showed what they got by winning the first set with a 7-point lead at 25-18. The Lady Tamaraws seemed to be heated up as they refused to give them the lead in the second set, resulting to long, breathtaking rallies and several ties. Still it was evident that there are some problems on their in-court communication as seen in the lapses they made. The set ended with a very close 29-27, in favor of the Tigresses.
FEU’s Cherry Vivas showed a spark of hope for the Tamaraws as shecaught-up with UST’s 4-point lead at the start of set 3. Vivas scored 5 points in a row, making the Lady Tamaraws take the lead at 13-12. UST made-up for the points they had lost through captain Aiza Maizo and promising rookie Denise Santiago’s solid blocks and set the 16-all
score. Santiago continued attacking, scoring in rows. Maru Banaticla wowed the audience with her powerful spike the Lady Tamaraws were unable to return. Finally, Angeli Tabaquero delivered the finishing blow, making UST win the third set at 25-21, thus making UST Lady Spikers win this game against FEU.
