The University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe in cooperation with the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics (IPEA) held its 23rd Annual University-Wide Dance Competition entitled “SayawJuan” last August 19, 2008 at the UST Gymnasium.
Regina Grace Buzon from the College of fine Arts and Design was hailed winner in the Solo Category, along with Ezekiel Corpuz from College of fine Arts and Design and Maea Altea Arpafo from the College of Education who placed second and third, respectively.
In the Trio Category, College of Architecture placed first and seconded by the College of Fine Arts and Design. While in the Group Category, Ruarcs announced winner.
The criteria for judging are based from the contestants’ creativity, execution, choreography, originality, and audience impact. The judges are Alejandro Mendelevar, Anabelle Edward and Josias Borosso who are alumni of the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe.
The awarding ceremony was initiated by Prof. Edna Sanchez, adviser of UST Salinggawi, Mr. Ryan Silva, choreographer of UST Salinggawi, Alejandro Mendelevar, Anabelle Edward and Josias Borosso. The winners received certificates, trophies, and cash prizes.
